"Taking the pulse" of family farming

Humanitas Global and Food Tank are reaching out to you, our friends and colleagues, with close, personal knowledge of farming today.

In honor of the 2014 International Year of Family Farming, we ask (through a brief survey): what attracts some to be family farmers and what motivates others to leave farms behind to pursue other careers?

How will this information be used? The purpose of the surveys is to spur conversation around family farming. To do so, we will use the survey to "take the pulse" of current and former family farmers. The findings will be used in advocacy and awareness efforts in collaboration with the United Nation's Food and Agriculture Organization to support World Food Day held annually on October 16.

PLEASE NOTE: Your responses are confidential and no quotes will be attributed to you without your consent.

Who are we looking for? This survey is for three types of people:

1) Those who were raised on family farms and became farmers themselves;

2) Those who were raised on family farms but chose a different profession; or

3) Those who were NOT raised on a farm but decided to enter into the farming profession.
