UN Women's EmpowerWomen.org  is seeking applications from dynamic and creative women and men from all over the world to champion women’s economic empowerment. Apply now to become a Global Community Champion.

Who is eligible? Individual women and men, as well as organizations, from different professional backgrounds and skill sets. Students are also encouraged to apply.

What are the benefits? Visibility on a global platform with 100,000+ visitors; networking with 4,000+ peers and experts; and leadership and learning opportunities (e.g. through learning webinars, online discussions, blog posts, and much more).

What will a champion do? Contribute with their expertise, skills, and knowledge to promote women’s economic empowerment online and offline. Champions will actively participate and lead online discussions; contribute blog posts; share relevant resources; invite networks to join; and explore innovative tools and solutions for women’s economic empowerment.

Will there be funding available? Participation is on a voluntary basis. No funds will be available to cover the costs of the participation of individuals and organizations.

What are the deadlines?  All applications should be submitted by 29 January 2015 5pm EST (New York Time).

On 2 February 2015, we will invite all eligible applicants to enter a one month rally. The purpose of this rally is for applicants to demonstrate how dynamic, creative and passionate they are in championing women’s economic empowerment in their community.

On 9 March 2015, EmpowerWomen.org will announce the names of the selected Global Community Champions. The Champions will submit an activity plan and work closely with the EmpowerWomen.org team for a period of five months to put the plan into practice.

How many champions will be selected? We select a number of champions that our team can closely support. In the first round we selected 29 champions out of 150 applicants. In the most recent round, we selected 44 champions out of 800 applications. And we can accommodate more this time.

Can I still participate in the EmpowerWomen.org activities if I don't apply? Yes, you are encouraged to participate in all of the EmpowerWomen.org online discussions and activities. You only need to login to start engaging and contributing to EmpowerWomen.org.
