Communication Assistant needed: CCAFS West Africa

International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) seeks to recruit a Communications Assistant to support the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) West Africa.

Terms of Reference

Under the direction of the Africa Communication and Knowledge Manager, the Communication Assistant will perform the following tasks:

  • Write research stories on program activities as directed by the team;
  • Assist in website management— publishing content such as blogs, news stories, upcoming events;
  • Design of program publications including flyers, newsletters, working papers;
  • Maintaining an inventory of CCAFS WA publications  on CGspace;
  • Keep an updated database of blog stories published by CCAFS WA team and partners;
  • Management of an online portal – canaafrica.com regularly updating it with relevant information (news, events, publications) to keep the site up to date;
  • Assist in the documentation of program activities through photography and video;
  • Archive  and share program photos, videos and presentations on relevant sites - Flickr, YouTube Slideshare
  • Offering logistical support during CCAFS  WA workshops, field visits and meetings
  • Any other tasks as directed by the Regional Communications Specialist and the CCAFS WA program management team

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field of specialization
  • 2-3 years’ experience working in communications in a research or development field
  • Bilingual – Speaks and writes good English and French
  • Proficient in graphic design and editing: Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro
  • Good photography skills
  • Experience in website content management
  • Proactive with good interpersonal skills
  • Team player, exhibiting sound management
