2013 Global Youth Economic Opportunities conference program announced

Making Cents International is excited to release the 2013 Global Youth Economic Opportunities conference program. The conference, scheduled for September 10-12 in Washington, DC, will present the latest research, innovations, and best practices across the youth economic opportunities sector. The review process was rigorous, and we're looking forward to this year's conference being one of the best yet. The 2013 event will contain two Spotlights: "Opportunities for Rural Youth" focuses on how to support youth in rural areas. "Power of Technology" showcases how to utilize technology in your programming.  As youth components are increasingly being included in food security, rural, and agricultural development projects, the Opportunities for Rural Youth Spotlight is particularly timely. In an exploration of economic opportunities for rural youth conference attendees will hear from the Asante Africa Foundation in Narok, Kenya, which is equipping adolescent girls with financial skills and reproductive health know-how to enable them increased control over their livelihoods. Coffee and cacao agribusiness firms will show participants how and why their businesses are more profitable when youth achieve economic capability. Hear from Anne Cotton, founder of Camfed,  the Ghana Co-operative Credit Union Association will share lessons on providing financial services to rural youth. Seminars and break-out sessions will look at the youth role in rural value chains, and more.  Attendees will hear directly from funders and donors, private sector, and nonprofits. Attend the conference to network, share promising practices and lessons learned, forge partnerships, and gain technical capacity in the following learning tracks: Workforce Development; Gender; Financial Services and Capabilities; Youth Enterprise Development; and Monitoring, Evaluation & Impact Assessment.  Click here to view the full program. Click here to register for the conference.
